The kit has a name: Ohmsville

The lab launched two days ago under a name that was never going to survive: Circuit City is a real, live trademark belonging to a real electronics retailer, and building a brand on top of someone else's is a bill that arrives later with interest. So the name is gone.

Ohmsville

The lab is called Ohmsville, and it lives at ohmsville.com. Ohm, because that is the first unit anyone here learns and the one the whole board is built out of. Ville, because the level fiction was always a town of little shops — the Timer Shop, Amp Alley — and a town needs a name you can put on a sign.

The board itself now has its own name too: the Spring Terminal. It is the thing the kit is actually about — a sheet with parts glued down and a numbered spring beside every lead, and the fact that you make a circuit by clipping a wire between two of them. The shop teacher calls it that, and so does the label a screen reader reads out.

What changed and what did not

The wordmark reads OHMSVILLE. The skyline trace over it, the LED, the colours and the ELECTRONIC PROJECT KIT bar are unchanged — the mark was never the problem.

Your progress, your Builders' Club code, your saved builds and your stickers are all exactly where you left them. The rename went nowhere near the session cookie or the local progress store, because doing that would have logged everyone out to fix a string nobody reads.

Two things keep the old spelling on purpose. The circuit document format is still circuit-city.circuit at version 1 — a version token published in an API contract, and quietly changing what a contract emits is worse than a slightly odd-looking string. It becomes ohmsville.circuit at version 2. And the repository is still called circuit-city for now; that is a separate, noisier change.

The old address keeps working and redirects here. Permalinks are permanent, so this post's link never moved — it is still /blog/circuit-city-is-live.
