Electronics you can actually build

Electronics for eight-year-olds, on the same simulator the rest of Ohmsville runs on. Parts are chunky blocks you snap together by tapping two of them; a light comes on, a speaker sings, and the sun changes the sound. No sign-in, no typing, no camera, and nothing a child writes leaves the browser — because there is nowhere in here to write.

Eight things to build

The first four you build yourself. The last four are built for you — your job is to change them.

  1. 1 Make a light come on Press the button and the red light comes on. You build it
  2. 2 Turn the knob, fade the light Turn the knob and the light goes from bright to almost gone. You build it
  3. 3 Two lights on one path Put both lights on one path and watch them share. You build it
  4. 4 Two lights, two paths Give each light its own path and they both go bright. You build it
  5. 5 A light that takes its time Hold the button and the light creeps on slowly. Built for you
  6. 6 Two lights taking turns Two lights blinking, one after the other, forever. Built for you
  7. 7 Make it sing The same circuit, so fast you hear it instead of see it. Built for you
  8. 8 The sun changes the sound Move the sun and the note changes. Built for you
