Nate Pruitt

Nate Pruitt is a character. The stories are ours.
Nate was born in Ohmsville in 1974 and is fifty-two. He left the way most people leave and moved back with Milo, which makes him the one narrator whose arrival is a return. He is Ray's kit one generation down: he got the 200-in-1 with the plastic base, he built the two-transistor blinker, and then the arcade got interesting and he stopped. He writes software for a living, which is to say he uses electronics all day and has never once been shown inside any of it. The one time he did look properly he was a student: he wrote an engineering report on the Kinetoscope and the beginnings of movie making, handed it in, and left it in a box for thirty years — he found the box again when he moved back, which is why there is a projector on Milo's Saturday table. He has a nine-year-old, Milo, and a kit he handed him on a Saturday morning. He is the persona Seth actually writes in, and he is the only one who says I.
